It has been far too long since I’ve posted an update to the website. Regular progress has been made on Spoxel so there hasn’t been any halt in development. Insert a generic promise here about promising to do better next time 🙂
Most of my effort lately has been towards putting together a tutorial level in Spoxel. The crafting system, especially with spells, takes a little bit of direction but it is also really powerful. The spell in the screen shot above for example lets you launch flaming sheep at your enemies! I also spent some time reorganizing the build for Spoxel so I could separate out the code to make a dedicated server for the multiplayer component.
The next big task on my plate is reworking the character model. Spoxel’s art style has slowly evolved over time. When I first started creating the game I was going to do a very voxel art like style. This has slowly morphed over time. For example this is what the game used to look like.
So there has been a pretty significant upgrade over time. Once the base model and skins are done I have to rework all the armor items too so there is a fair amount of work involved. After that I am going to take a laser focus on content and polish. There are a lot of cool things coming soon!
